Amalgum is a collective. Founded by the artists Andee Collard and Henry Ward; it produces work of a collaborative and participatory nature. Much of its concern is the relationship between artistic and educative practice. In organising events, producing products, setting up exhibitions and creating projects that move away from individual authorship towards a tendency for a more socially engaged and collaborative practice. Amalgum is interested in the erosion of the generally accepted separation between artists and audience. In taking on the role of facilitators, Amalgum intends to create dialogue which opens up new possibilities and readings; which fundamentally shift perception of what art is and what purpose it might have.
